DJ AWARDS 2024 Unveils Nominees and Industry Honors for Highly Anticipated Comeback

After a four-year hiatus, the illustrious DJ AWARDS return to the limelight for their 23rd Anniversary, set to dazzle on October 2nd at Chinois in Ibiza. As the eagerly awaited event draws near, the independently curated list of nominees has been unveiled, sparking excitement within the electronic music community.

Inaugurated in 1998 by visionaries José Pascual and Lenny Krarup, the DJ AWARDS have earned the moniker of being the ‘Oscars of electronic dance music.’ With new custodians at the helm and significant financial infusion, these awards have become a crucial platform for celebrating and supporting the global DJ scene. They honor outstanding achievements across the entire spectrum, showcasing the crème de la crème through high-profile ceremonies spanning multiple categories.

The theme chosen for this inaugural edition under the new stewardship is Unity, a concept deeply ingrained in the ethos of dance music. This theme is a timely reminder of the imperative to foster togetherness, celebrate diversity, and forge new connections—be they personal, musical, or emotional—among individuals from all walks of life and various sectors of the music industry.

Andy Grant, the new proprietor of DJ AWARDS, passionately expresses, “Music has power – the power to unite us, to cheer us up, to give us the chills, to instantly remind us of a long lost memory, to create a vibe, to set a mood, or to even motivate change. That is why we have chosen the theme of Unity for the DJ Awards 2024 reboot with the launch of our Best Dancefloor Memory user generated competition which will see everyone everywhere share their top memories via Instagram, tagging @thedjawards and our panel of judges will select someone from any corner of the globe to come to Ibiza and collect a genuine DJ Award that they can keep on the mantelpiece forever”

To ensure fairness and inclusivity, a diverse and independent industry panel was meticulously assembled to draw up the nominations, ensuring they reflect a broad spectrum of perspectives. The categories to be contested encompass long-established genres such as House, Tech House, Drum & Bass, and Techno. Additionally, the resurgent influence of Progressive House and Trance will be acknowledged, along with emerging genres like Organic House and Afro, both of which have garnered immense followings and are spearheaded by pioneering artists.

Mainstream sounds under the ‘International DJ’ category will also receive recognition, while the world’s finest Live Acts will share the spotlight alongside the Breakthrough category, which seeks to honor the most promising new talents who have made a significant impact since the last awards ceremony four years ago.

Complementing these categories is a comprehensive array of Industry Awards, with winners chosen by industry experts from the Association For Electronic Music (AFEM). These awards are divided into two segments: the Global section, which includes Global Festival, What’s Hot Global – Outstanding Global Tour Award, Eye on…’USA,’ Play It Back (recognizing exceptional charity contributions or outstanding achievements within or outside the electronic music realm), and Most Memorable Dance Floor Moment. The second segment focuses on Ibiza, with awards such as Ibiza Track of the Summer, Ibiza Icon, and Ibiza Party of the Summer.

The countdown has begun for what promises to be a momentous night, celebrating the most remarkable talents, musical innovations, and pivotal contributions to the electronic music community in recent years.
