It has been just over a year since the Pete Tong DJ Academy (PTDJA) opened its virtual doors, revolutionizing DJ education and mentorship. Providing aspiring DJs with a valuable online resource, PTDJA offers tuition and guidance from some of the biggest names in the dance music industry, all close friends of the legendary Pete Tong. With icons like Carl Cox, Nicole Moudaber, Adam Beyer, Sama’ Abdulhadi, TSHA, and Jamie Jones at the helm, the academy has become a beacon of hope for the next generation of DJs.
Last year, Pete Tong introduced an exciting new element to the academy, the Future Talent Awards, aimed at spotlighting and celebrating the exceptional artists who enrolled in the course. This award serves as a springboard to propel these talented individuals towards a successful career in DJing. The awards structure allowed ten outstanding students to be handpicked by the tutors, granting them the opportunity to perform alongside their mentors at global gigs. This unique experience was coupled with dedicated, career-building support.
The much-awaited moment arrived during this year’s International Music Summit (IMS) in Ibiza, where the ultimate winner was crowned as the PTDJA Future Talent. The prestigious title and recognition came as Constanza, an exceptional DJ and producer from Argentina, claimed the coveted top spot. Not only did she receive the recognition, but Constanza also earned the privilege of performing the opening slot at IMS’ celebrated Dalt Vila closing party, cementing her position as a rising star in the dance music scene.
The PTDJA Future Talent Awards saw numerous talented submissions from around the globe, highlighting the diversity and global appeal of the academy. Among the top contenders were Dahien, a Polish DJ now residing in Berlin, and Liz Somes, hailing from Seattle. Their exceptional mixing skills and finely crafted sets caught the ears of their mentors, Adam Beyer and Sama’ Abdulhadi, further solidifying their promising futures in the industry.
While these three outstanding artists claimed the top honors, the Future Talent Awards recognized the incredible potential of seven more finalists, all of whom were lauded for their exceptional skills and talents. Each finalist is profiled below, standing as a testament to the remarkable talent that PTDJA continues to nurture and support.
As the Pete Tong DJ Academy moves forward into its second year, the impact it has made in shaping the careers of future DJs is undeniable. With a commitment to providing quality education, mentorship, and opportunities, PTDJA remains at the forefront of driving positive change in the dance music community, ensuring that the next generation of DJs is well-equipped to leave their mark on the global stage.
